⚡️ Becoming a Potter ⚡️

About a month ago I was dreaming of making pottery. A specific piece was shown to me and it was so beautiful. It was as if it was a piece I had already made and held in my hands. I couldn’t help but feel like it was already mine and that I had already made it. When I woke up from this dream, I said to myself, “I need to buy a pottery wheel.” So I did. I kept dreaming some more about this beautiful art form that seemed to be in my blood. It’s as if my ancestors were calling to me, reminding me of my gifts and talents from a long awaited past. Who knows, maybe I was a potter in another lifetime?! ⚡️🤷🏻‍♀️😆

I immediately got buyers remorse and thought to myself… “what am I doing?! I don’t know a thing about this…” and then I was reminded I took pottery in high school and college 🤪 the mind of us creative types always thinking we are not “equipped” enough. So many thoughts started to run through my mind like “where am I going to fire my pieces? I don’t have a kiln 🤦🏻‍♀️” and “where am I going to put the wheel, omg what did I get myself into?!” But all the while my ancestors and Spirit were rooting for me. I finally went and got the materials I needed to start making some magic and now all I’m waiting for is access to a firing kiln. Eventually I would like to have my own, but a nice one is pretty pricey, so I will have to wait on that. If anyone knows of any local kilns in Orlando that are open to the public please comment below!

In the meantime I will play around with some air dry clay and low fire clay. Making some decorative pieces and plant pots for outside. I want to eventually have my own dish ware line and make indoor plant pots and all other kinds of creative pieces. I am super excited to get started, now I just have to figure out where I want to set it up. Inside or outside?
